Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise

My friend wanted to see fireworks, so, last Saturday, she and I went to "Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise" which was a kind of amusement park and it took 1 hour from Tokyo. There are a good Aquarium and some rides such as a roller-coaster, merry-go-round and so on. The park is popular among families and also famous as a place for young couples.
In Japan, fireworks displays are usually held in Summer. Big displays takes over 1 hour and shorts are 10 minutes or something. This time was only 10 minutes, but it was beautiful and worth to watch.

I'm interested in everything that is related to ordinary life in Japan, so there are hundreds of questions I'd like to ask. About fireworks: Was it some kind of special occasion, or was it usual saturday attraction prepared for tourists at Sea Paradise? Maybe 1 hour show is for the special occasions and 10 minutes show is without any occasions, just for saturday evening fun? Is it good thinking? :)

You are right, rast. 10 minutes fireworks displays are usually held by amusement parks to get more visiters.
Have you heard Japanese people (maybe asian people) like to go amusement parks? Around Tokyo, there are 6 amusement parks at least.

6 amusement parks...well, well... And I heard that people in Japan work so hard for 18-20 hours a day that they don't have any time for entertainment. Looks like it's not quite true.
I just watched pictures of Hakkeijima Sea Paradise in the internet. Nice place. You could spend the whole day in there and you still woudn't have enough of it. :) Such amusement parks are called "yuuenchi", right?
And one more thing that I should have written earlier: If you have any question about Poland - just ask. :)

Thanks, I'll ask you about Poland.
haha, 18-20 hours working is over the top :), but yes, japanese people used to work very hard. now, it depends on the jobs or companies. When I was a system engineer, I usually worked 9am to 10pm and sometimes couldn't go back home:( but I think there are similar situations in the industry in the world.
Actually, the park isn't so big, one day is enough to enjoy it. Rast, can you read japanese? cos the English web site dosen't have enough information. and yes, those amusement parks are called "yuuenchi". you know very well:)

I checked both english and japanese sites. I agree: japanese is more developed and looks better, but I could only watch the pictures, because I can't read japanese signs.
In fact, not long ago I couldn't even see japanese signs in my browser. I had always seen something like this:

Then I installed east asian language files and now I have proper website with japanese signs, but it's the same mistery to me. Ha, ha, ha. :)
